Are you planning to buy new bedroom furniture for an apartment which you are moving into? Read on and discover the easy steps that will help you to arrange that furniture effortlessly.
Step 1: Do Some Visualisation
It can be very hard to arrange bedroom furniture if you haven't invested time in creating an image of what you would like your bedroom to look like once all the furniture is in the room. Your first step towards your dream bedroom should, therefore, entail visualising what you want to have at the end of the placement of all the furniture pieces, such as the bed, the wardrobe and the bedside table. Walk around the room and decide where each item of furniture should be placed based on the unique features of that room. For example, you may not want to place your bed next to a window through which plenty of light comes in. Take note of any power outlets and other inbuilt features during this visualisation exercise.
Step 2: Make a Floor Plan
Next, bring out your pen and paper and draw a plan. Take measurements of the room and use an appropriate scale to capture that information on a paper. For example, each quarter of an inch on your paper can represent a foot. Capture every nook and unique feature in this floor plan so that you can account for everything which can stand in the way of the larger pieces of furniture. You may find it easier to prepare this floor plan in case you use graph paper since the squares on the graph paper will make it easy for you to have an accurate depiction of the various measurements in the plan.
Step 3: Draw and Stage the Furniture
Pay a visit to the furniture store where you plan to buy your bedroom furniture. Measure the different items you want. Use the same scale as what you used for the floor plan and draw shapes to represent the different items. Cut these shapes out of the paper and place them on the graph paper having your floor plan. Adjust the placement of those furniture pieces until everything fits. You can then trace those outlines on the floor plan so that the furniture movers use that guide to put each item where you want it.
The steps above may seem very demanding for an inexperienced person. However, performing those steps early will save you from the stress of having to move furniture around in a desperate attempt to make it fit after it has been delivered.
Hello. I’m Paul. I’m a house builder and in recent years, I’ve loved the trend in which indoor and outdoor areas have become blurred to make versatile living spaces. I really enjoy visiting my clients after the house is finished. In particular, I like to see the creative ways they use furniture to enhance these flexible living spaces. Surprisingly, there is no single trend in the way that these houses are furnished. Wooden, plastic and metal pieces can all be seen and people use a mix of modern, upcycled and older items. From discussions with clients, I’ve learnt a lot about different styles and suppliers of quality furniture. For others out there who are looking for furniture or simply fascinated by the incredible range on offer, I’ve started this blog to share the most interesting ideas I come across. I hope you enjoy my entries.
